Canada Visitor Visa Photo Size and Requirements
Canada's visitor visa (temporary resident visa) photo is at least 35 × 45 mm, with your head 31–36 mm from chin to crown, on a plain white or light background. Unlike the Canadian passport, it doesn't have to be taken by a commercial photographer.
Upload a photo and Auto Generate sizes it to these rules. Try it free; pay only to download the finished photo.

Official requirements
- Plain white background
- Head height 31–36 mm (chin to crown)
- Eyes open and looking at camera
- Neutral expression, mouth closed
- Glasses only if you need them: no tint, no glare, frames clear of the eyes
- Taken within last 6 months
- Two identical prints on photo paper
Good to know
- Bring two identical prints on photo paper, taken in the last 6 months.
- Clear prescription glasses are fine if your eyes are clearly visible and the frames don't cover them. No sunglasses.
- IRCC's photo page covers printed photos; it gives no separate rules for photos uploaded with an online application.
- Canadian passport photos are different: 50 × 70 mm and taken by a commercial photographer, so we don't make them.
How it works
- Upload a clear, front-facing photo against a plain wall.
- Choose Canada Visitor Visa and press Auto Generate: the photo is cropped and sized to the rules above.
- Review the compliance check, then download the photo and a printable sheet.
