Schengen Visa Photo Size and Requirements
Schengen visa applications follow the international (ICAO) photo standard: a 35 × 45 mm colour photo with your head filling 70–80% of its height (about 32–36 mm), on a plain light background, taken in the last 6 months.

Official requirements
- Plain white background, no shadows
- Head height 70–80% of photo height; face and shoulders visible
- Eyes open and looking at camera
- Neutral expression, mouth closed
- Clear prescription glasses allowed (no tint, no glare)
- Taken within last 6 months
Good to know
- Applying to Germany or France? They measure the face from chin to hairline, so choose their own visa photo type in the app.
- Clear prescription glasses are allowed if there is no tint and no glare.
- Consulates ask for one or two prints; check the checklist for the one you apply to.
